Our Story

In the beginning

1988       Our founder Daragh Matheson finishes a three year course training in Culinary Arts in Dublin, Ireland at the Dublin Institute of Technology Graduating London City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2. He spends the next 20 years working in the culinary industry in Australia and Ireland in Fine Dining Restaurants before moving to the United States.

2004       Daragh arrives in Southern California.

2005       Using his culinary experience Daragh begins making his sauces and dressings for friends and family who encourage him to make it for the local farmers markets.

2008       Daragh begins working at a resort in Palm Springs who wants him to make a range of sauces. He begins experimenting with a Steak Sauce. He spends the next year working and perfecting his sauces for a larger market. Using only natural ingredients, with no preservatives or additives to ensure only the highest quality and best tasting sauces are made.

The Worlds first taste

2009       The Matheson Food Co. is officially founded and in March Daragh opens a stall at the local Temecula Certified Farmers Market and sells out in his first week. Over the coming weeks he expands the range to 12 varieties.

Word spreads

2010       In our first year from one location the Matheson Food Co. have bottled and sold over ten thousand bottles. And, we’re still counting!
